RISING WATERS LEAD TO MAJOR ROAD CLOSURES IN SHAH ALAM

SHAH ALAM, 24 Nov (Bernama) -- Several major roads in Shah Alam have been fully closed due to rising water levels following continuous heavy rain since yesterday evening, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) said today.

In a Facebook post, MBSA said the police have closed Jalan Seksyen 19, Seksyen 24 towards Seksyen 23, Persiaran Jubli Perak and Persiaran Perusahaan to ensure the safety of road users.

The council also confirmed that Jalan Persiaran Jubli Perak, opposite the Selangor Public Works Department building in Seksyen 17, has been inundated and closed.

MBSA advised the public to exercise caution, use alternative routes and comply with authorities’ instructions.

Flooding has affected several areas in the district, including Taman Desa Kemuning, Seksyen 35, Kampung Budiman, Seksyen U14, Persiaran Jubli Perak, Seksyen 19, Taman Seri Muda and Padang Jawa, Seksyen 16.

As a precaution, MBSA’s Quick Response Team (PANTAS) has been monitoring flood-prone areas such as Sungai Damansara in Seksyen 13, where water levels have risen but pumps are operating.

The council urged residents to contact PANTAS at 03-55105811 for emergency assistance.

As of 3.30 pm today, 327 flood victims from 109 families across five districts in Selangor have been accommodated in eight temporary relief centres (PPS).
