NAIROBI, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- A letter of intent exchanged between the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Nairobi City County Government here today marked the beginning of a partnership focused on inclusive development, sustainability, and knowledge sharing.

“The collaboration covers key niche areas, namely tourism and culture, urban community development, skills and expertise empowerment, waste management, circular economy, and improved urban planning,” Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa posted on social media.

The letter of intent was exchanged between Dr Zaliha for Malaysia and Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Salim Mvurya, at the State House.

The ceremony was witnessed by Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto.

The initiative also provides a platform for exchanging ideas and information to strengthen technical collaboration and mutual understanding.

Nairobi, strategically located in East Africa, serves as a regional hub for finance, technology, and diplomacy, and hosts numerous international organisations.

As such, Dr Zaliha noted that Kuala Lumpur can leverage Nairobi’s experience in urban management and innovation.

She added that the partnership complements the implementation of the CHASE City vision in the Federal Territories, which emphasises future urban planning, resilience, and strengthening global networks.

Dr Zaliha is in Nairobi as part of the Malaysian delegation led by Anwar, who is concluding a tour of three African countries today.
