MALAYSIA PUSHES YOUTH READINESS FOR AI ERA

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has stressed the importance of preparing its young generation to lead in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), in line with the National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap 2021-2025, at the 2025 Autumn Economic Forum in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang said he highlighted this during the Youth Inspirational Talks: AI Generation NOW session, in a presentation titled AI for Regional Innovation and Connectivity.

Chang said he also shared Malaysia’s approach, which focuses on ethical and responsible AI governance, developing young talent through education, training and industry exposure, and strengthening a regional innovation ecosystem capable of driving digital-industry growth.

“I also pointed out that more than half of ASEAN’s population is under 35, making the region one of the most dynamic and promising areas to drive future innovation.

“With rising technical expertise, ASEAN is well-positioned to become an interconnected and globally competitive innovation hub,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Chang said that Malaysia’s participation in the three-day forum, held from Nov 25, is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen science and technology diplomacy and expand bilateral cooperation with Vietnam.

“It also aligns with Malaysia’s role as ASEAN Chair in 2025, where digital innovation and connectivity will be key priorities,” he said.

The minister also noted that the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) will continue to play a strategic role to ensure Malaysia is ready for global technological shifts and able to emerge as a regional innovation leader.
