PARIT, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- Kampung Seri Kaya, near Bota Kiri, has been selected as Malaysian Parliament’s Kampung Angkat MADANI (adopted village), with about RM1.1 million allocated for community and school development projects, aimed at improving residents’ welfare.
Malaysian Parliament chief administrator Datuk Dr Ahmad Husaini Abdul Rahman said that the projects, which had already been fully completed, were carried out based on requests from the local community.
“The villagers themselves decided on these projects, which were prioritised based on their needs and implemented using funding allocated by the government.
“RM1 million has been allocated for the Kampung Angkat MADANI Programme, with another RM100,000 set aside for projects under the Sekolah Angkat MADANI initiative. Both programmes bring substantial benefits to villagers and school students,” he told Bernama after officiating the Kampung Angkat MADANI Parlimen Malaysia Mini Carnival here today.
He said that the projects included upgrading facilities, building drainage systems, repairing furniture, and improving the electrical systems at Masjid Ar-Rahmah in Kampung Seri Kaya, with total funding of RM671,997.
Ahmad Husaini said that RM40,000 had been allocated for road resurfacing works and the upgrading of the area around the Ar-Rahmah Mosque Muslim Cemetery.
“In addition, a total of RM128,000 has been provided for the construction of a new road connecting Parit 13 to Kampung Seri Kaya, benefiting an estimated 1,000 residents.
“A total of RM60,000 has been allocated for the installation of new solar-powered street lights at the intersection leading to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seri Kaya and the school’s main entrance,” he said.
Ahmad Husaini added that a total of RM96,870 had been set aside to upgrade facilities at SK Seri Kaya.
On the Mini Carnival, he said that various programmes had been held over three days since last Friday at the Ar-Rahmah Mosque compound, including gotong-royong perdana, ceramah perdana, and kenduri rakyat, alongside several booths featuring activities organised by government agencies.
