KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- Police have detained four individuals, including activist Rafidah Ibrahim, for allegedly attempting to disrupt the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kampung Sungai Baru Redevelopment Project here this morning.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspects, two men and two women aged between 39 and 47, were nabbed at about 8.50 am in the vicinity of the event.
“At the time of arrest, the four were shouting and causing a disturbance, disrupting public order while security control duties were being carried out at the ceremony,” he said in a statement.
Fadil said the arrests were made as a preventive measure under Section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Code, as they were suspected of being the instigators who urged members of the public to attend and protest at the event.
He said the call to gather was believed to have been uploaded via Rafidah’s TikTok account last Friday.
“Police will conduct further investigations into all those detained in accordance with the law,” he added.
