KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- A lorry driver's reckless attempt to evade a police inspection led to him driving against oncoming traffic for 150 kilometres before being eventually arrested, early this morning.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt Ibrahim Husin said the police control centre had earlier received a call from its mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit at 5.35 am notifying them that a lorry driven by a man refused to stop when flagged down.
"The driver exited towards the North-South Expressway via the Bukit Beruntung toll plaza and drove against the flow of traffic for 150 kilometres towards the Sungai Buloh toll plaza before turning back to Bukit Beruntung.
“The man also attempted to ram an MPV vehicle when he was being stopped near the Bukit Beruntung toll plaza," he said in a statement today.
Three MPVs later intercepted and arrested the lorry driver at Taman Bunga Raja in Bukit Beruntung.
Ibrahim said the man also tested positive for methamphetamine, besides having two prior records involving criminal and drug offences.
A 23-second video went viral on social media today showing a lorry being driven against the flow of traffic on the North-South Expressway near Bukit Beruntung, nearly causing an accident.
