KOTA KINABALU, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor expressed confidence that his newly-appointed Cabinet would be capable of driving the state’s development through the implementation of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 development plan.
He also congratulated all new ministers and reminded them of their duties as it was a huge responsibility in carrying on the state’s development agenda.
“To all newly-appointed ministers, I congratulate you on your appointments. This is a very meaningful responsibility and I hope that you all will carry out your duties with unwavering dedication. Serve the people of Sabah regardless of background and carry out your duties with full integrity.
“I’m confident and believe that Cabinet members have the experience and abilities to lead their respective ministries towards even better development and progress for Sabah and at the same time, ensure continuity of development programmes as planned,” he said in a statement today, which was read out by Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Sri Gaya here.
Meanwhile, Joachim, who is acting Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president, also confirmed that the newly-formed Sabah government is a Unity Government, and that Barisan Nasional (BN) is officially involved in the new state government while Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) has yet to confirm its participation.
“It's a bit like (the) unity government… BN is among those who support officially. Yes, it’s official, STAR has yet to do so,” he added.
A total of 10 Sabah Cabinet members took their oath of office in front of Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu here today.
Those sworn in were seven Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) assemblymen, and one assemblyman from United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) each.
GRS, led by Hajiji, won 29 seats, ahead of Warisan’s 25 seats, while BN won six seats, Independents (five) Pakatan Harapan (one), Perikatan Nasional (one), UPKO (three), STAR (two) and KDM (one) in the recently-concluded 17th Sabah state election.
