SMK KANOWIT FACILITIES REPLACEMENT PROJECT COMPLETED AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

SIBU, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- The project to replace educational facilities at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kanowit, which included 18 classrooms and various other amenities, has been completed ahead of schedule, bringing significant benefits to the local community.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the project, implemented under the 13th Malaysia Plan, was officially handed over on Nov 5, two months ahead of the original completion date of Jan 9 next year.

“The success of this project, which cost RM49.9 million, is due to the strong cooperation among Special Project Team 2, JKR, JPNS, the main contractor, and all parties involved,” he said at the school replacement project handover ceremony today.

According to Nanta, the project’s scope covered the construction of an administrative block and an academic block comprising 18 classrooms, a surau, a Design and Technology (RBT) workshop, a computer laboratory, an integrated science laboratory, a chemistry laboratory, and two resource rooms.

He said the new facilities were not merely physical structures, but a symbol of hope for improving the quality of education for the younger generation in Kanowit.

“With safer and more modern facilities, students will enjoy improved learning, teachers will be able to teach more effectively, and parents will feel more confident about their children’s future,” he said.

Nanta also stressed that the Works Ministry was committed to ensuring every development project was implemented on schedule, met the required standards, and benefited the people, particularly those in rural areas.

He reminded school staff to take care of the facilities and make the best use of them to nurture outstanding students who will become future leaders.
