NUMBER OF FLOOD VICTIMS IN PERAK DROPS, UNCHANGED IN SELANGOR

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims at temporary relief centres (PPS) in Perak continued to decline tonight.

The Perak State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported that 680 people from 195 families were taking shelter at PPS in three districts as of 9 pm, compared with 934 people this afternoon.

Hilir Perak recorded the highest number of evacuees at 344, followed by Manjung (190) and Bagan Datuk (146).

Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage said two rivers were at danger levels: Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong recorded 3.82 metres (m) compared with the normal level of around 2 m, while Sungai Slim in Slim River measured 25.45 m against the normal 23.50 m.

In SELANGOR, the flood situation remained unchanged, with 40 victims from 13 families housed at a single PPS in Kuala Selangor district.
