KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (RELA) has clarified that Datuk Jerry Ambuting Mohd Said no longer holds the department’s honorary and associate ranks.
RELA said that its records indicate the ranks awarded to Jerry Ambuting on Jan 22, 2011, expired on Jan 22, 2014, without renewal or re-conferment.
“RELA therefore denies that the individual still holds this status and stresses that any personal statements issued is unrelated to RELA.
“RELA also stresses that no individual or external party may issue media statements on behalf of the department without the approval of its top management,” it said in a statement today.
In two online news articles yesterday, Jerry Ambuting was referred to as president of the Sabah RELA Honorary Members Association.
