SABAH ELECTION SHOWS SABAHANS PREFERRED LOCAL PARTIES THAT ALIGN WITH FEDERAL GOVT - SAIFUDDIN

KULIM, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- The results of the recent Sabah State Election (PRN) signal that the people of Sabah tend to choose local parties that are friendly to the Federal Unity Government.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) Secretary-General Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the results also show that the people of Sabah want a state government that can work hand-in-hand and cooperate with the Federal Government.

"Unlike political analysts and observers who provided commentary on the Sabah State Election, we have finished analysing the Sabah PRN results by polling channel... not just by polling district, but every channel.

"Actually, the important signal we can learn is, first, the strength of the Sabah people in prioritising local parties, which is 'Sabah for Sabahan'. That is fact number one. Because this sentiment is strong, the biggest beneficiaries are two parties, namely GRS (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah) and Parti Warisan. That is clear," he told reporters after officiating the 2025 Back-to-School Programme here today.

He said that even though GRS and Warisan received high support in the State Election, based on the analysis conducted, GRS achieved a victory that surpassed Warisan.

"So, for me, the recent victory is a victory for the Unity Government. It is true that in terms of PH, we did not win many seats, but what is much more important is the victory of unity," he said.

Saifuddin Nasution also said that a meeting at the Unity Government level to discuss the Sabah State Election results in detail will be held in the near future.
