MERSING, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- The administrative assistant, reported missing while fishing when his boat capsized at the Felda Nitar 2 water treatment plant reservoir yesterday, was found drowned last night.

Mersing Fire and Rescue Station chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Abdul Muiz Mukhtar, said the body of Mohammad Putera Rizzurin Md Noh, 36, was found by members of the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) at 12.49 am.

“The victim’s body was found about six metres from the location where he was reported missing and has been handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement today.

Abdul Muiz said the initial search operation was carried out on the water surface, involving five PPDA members from the Kluang station led by him, together with eight civilians and a witness.

He said the search and rescue operation was also assisted by 13 members of the Mersing station, five police personnel, and four members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force.

The media reported yesterday that a staff member of Sekolah Kebangsaan LKTP Nitar 2 was feared to have drowned while fishing with two relatives after the boat they were on capsized at the plant reservoir.

Two of the men, Muhammad Zul Hafeez Azman Adi, 29, and Shahrul Izwan Sabaruddin, 36, survived the incident.
