PERLIS PH PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR EXISTING STATE GOVT OF PERLIS TO REMAIN IN POWER UNTIL END OF TERM

KANGAR, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- Perlis Pakatan Harapan (PH) has expressed its support for the existing state government to continue and remain in power until the end of its term, stating that government stability is a primary necessity for a small state like Perlis.

In a statement today, Perlis PH said this is not only to ensure administrative smoothness but also to save government finances, avoid waste caused by political uncertainty, and respect the mandate legally given by the people.

“Perlis Pakatan Harapan will continue to stand with the existing state government, the Institution of the Monarchy, and the interests of the people to ensure Perlis is governed peacefully, stably, and with dignity until the end of the administrative term,” Perlis PH stated.

Previously, media reports alleged that Perikatan Nasional (PN) State Assemblymen in the state had met with the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, with the majority expressing a loss of confidence and withdrawing support for Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

In the same statement, Perlis PH emphasised that the current state government was formed through a clear mandate from the people via a valid democratic process; therefore, this significant mandate must be respected and preserved.

“PH is of the view that any internal political turmoil must stop immediately. Open conflict only weakens the administration, tarnishes the state's image, and disrupts the government's focus on managing fundamental issues for the people,” the statement read.

In this regard, Perlis PH said the state government's priority should be fully focused on economic development, the people's welfare, job opportunities, the cost of living, and the sustainable progress of the state.

The party also called on all parties within the state government to prioritise consensus, orderly discussion, and wisdom in resolving any differences.

“Mature, prudent, and responsible politics are the keys to the stability and progress of Perlis,” according to the statement.

The state leadership must also be well-mannered, mature, and respectful toward the Institution of the Monarchy and the Palace, which serve as the main pillars of the state's stability and must be preserved with wisdom.
