PUTRAJAYA, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Transport (MOT) will organise the FLYSiswa Carnival 2026 at Dewan Besar, Pusat Kebudayaan dan Kesenian, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), on Jan 13, from 9 am to 4 pm.

MOT said the carnival aims to serve as a platform to provide publicity and information on the FLYSiswa initiative, which offers subsidies for the purchase of flight tickets for students.

The FLYSiswa Carnival 2026 targets students from public institutions of higher learning, polytechnics and community colleges under the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), as well as matriculation students and those from teacher training institutes (IPG) under the Ministry of Education (MOE).

“The FLYSiswa initiative was introduced to ease the financial burden of students travelling home, particularly on domestic routes between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan,” the ministry said, in a statement.

“Through this initiative, eligible students will receive a digital voucher worth RM400 in the form of shell credit, which can be used to purchase economy-class flight tickets - either one-way or return - with participating airlines, namely Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air, Firefly and MASwings,” it said.

The MOT said that the implementation of FLYSiswa 2026 will be carried out in three phases. Phase one involves existing and new students registered up to Sept 30, 2025, and will be implemented from Jan 1, 2026.

“The second phase will involve new students who register between Oct 1 and Dec 31, 2025, with implementation beginning on March 1, 2026. Meanwhile, the third phase, which will be implemented from July 1, 2026, will involve students newly registered between Jan 1 and March 31, 2026,” it said.

During the FLYSiswa Carnival 2026, various activities will be conducted, including information counters and briefing sessions, to enable students to obtain accurate information directly from the relevant parties, including details on the implementation phases of the initiative throughout the year.

Since its implementation in 2023, FLYSiswa has benefited 119,806 students, with the number of claims increasing year-on-year, demonstrating the initiative’s relevance and importance in supporting student welfare.

In this regard, the MOT invites all parties, particularly students, to attend the carnival, to take advantage of the opportunities offered and to obtain comprehensive information on the overall implementation of the FLYSiswa initiative.
