KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- A total of 600 primary and secondary school students in the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency received school vouchers worth RM150 each in preparation for the new school session beginning Monday.
The assistance, amounting to a total allocation of RM90,000, was presented by Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament, at the Back-to-School assistance presentation for her parliamentary constituency here today.
Dr Wan Azizah said the programme, implemented by Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), could help ease the financial burden on parents while ensuring students begin the new school session with greater confidence and preparedness.
“I truly appreciate this noble effort. With the cash vouchers, parents are able to purchase items according to their children’s needs.
“It can also indirectly reduce the financial pressure faced by parents or guardians during critical periods, especially those with more than one school-going child,” she said when speaking at the event held at the Desa Tasik Sports Complex here.
She added that such targeted assistance is especially crucial amid the increasingly challenging cost of living in urban areas.
The vouchers can be used to purchase school supplies at Pasaraya Hari-Hari, with recipients comprising students from six zones within the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency, including Desa Tasik, Sungai Besi, Alam Damai, Bandar Sri Permaisuri and Kampung Malaysia.
Also present at the event were the Prime Minister’s Political Secretary Datuk Azman Abidin and AIM managing director Datuk Mohamed Shamir Abdul Aziz.
Meanwhile, one of the aid recipients, Nur Daniesya Aafiyah Wazir, nine, a pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Tasik here, said she was grateful to receive the assistance, which could be used to purchase necessities such as clothing and stationery.
Another recipient, Ziyan Hafiy Rizqi, 15, a student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Perimbun, said the aid helped ease her parents’ burden in providing school supplies.
