KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a courtesy call from the former Deputy Prime Minister of Qatar, who is also the former Foreign Minister, Khalid Mohammad Al Attiyah, at his office in the Parliament Building here.

Through a Facebook post, Anwar said that during the meeting, they exchanged views on current issues as well as potential strategic and investment cooperation that could be strengthened for the mutual benefit of both countries.

“This meeting reflects a continuous commitment to strengthening Malaysia-Qatar bilateral relations,” he said.

During the 2nd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit here in May last year, Anwar held a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, which, among other things, discussed various areas of strategic cooperation between the two nations.

These included investment, trade, defence cooperation, energy, the digital industry, connectivity, and education.
