SHAH ALAM, Jan 21 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has described the Malaysian Higher Education Blueprint (RPTM) 2026-2035 as aligned with its aspirations and strategic direction, particularly in broadening access to quality education, nurturing highly skilled talent, and ensuring that no student is left behind.
UiTM vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin said that among the key RPTM initiatives significant to the university were guaranteed places in public higher education institutions (IPTA) for students with a CGPA of 4.0, free education for students with disabilities, and free education with financial assistance for students from hardcore poor families.
“This measure will reinforce educational equality and social mobility, in line with UiTM’s role as an institution championing the inclusive Bumiputera development agenda,” he said in a statement today.
Shahrin Sahib also said UiTM fully supports the addition of 3,000 IPTA education slots this year, including in strategic fields such as law, accounting, finance, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and communications and media studies, in line with future job market demands and the knowledge-driven economy.
He said the emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) empowerment, digitalisation, and the application of AI in polytechnics and community colleges was crucial in developing a highly skilled workforce relevant to the global industrial landscape.
“UiTM is committed to continuing its strategic role as a partner in implementing national policies, ensuring that the RPTM 2026-2035 agenda is effectively realised to produce graduates in accordance with the principles of Karamah Insaniah (recognition of human dignity) as mentioned by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said.
The RPTM 2026–2035, launched by the Prime Minister yesterday, sets a new direction for the country’s higher education, focusing on human values, well-being, and sustainability to produce knowledgeable, ethical, and globally competitive individuals.
