YBS EYES RM600 MLN REVENUE ON BACK OF ALLIED ACQUISITION

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- YBS International Bhd (YBS) is projecting its revenue to increase sharply from RM100 million to RM600 million following the completion of a landmark strategic investment to acquire the Allied Group of Companies.

YBS group managing director and chief executive officer Yong Chan Cheah said the expansion marks the company’s formal transition from a small and medium enterprise into a large-scale global player.

“The acquisition, which was finalised today through a strategic investment signing ceremony, is funded in partnership with EXIM Bank and is expected to triple YBS International’s workforce from 1,000 to 3,000 employees, mainly across Johor, Melaka, Penang, Vietnam, and Thailand.

"Of this total, 82 per cent comprise Malaysian and locally-based foreign workers, while only 18 per cent are foreign workers,” he said at the Strategic Investment Signing Ceremony and Product Showcase held here, today.

At the ceremony, Yong signed on behalf of YBS, while EXIM Bank was represented by its chief business officer Faizah Mustapa, and witnessed by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Yong said the acquisition represents a major inflection point for the Penang-based manufacturer as it accelerates regional expansion and strengthens its competitive positioning on the global stage.

The acquisition marks a defining milestone in the company’s journey towards achieving billion-ringgit revenue, he added.

“While we project our revenue to scale from RM100 million to RM600 million, we remain focused on disciplined execution. We also recognise that it will take two to three years to fully integrate this investment as we work to transform our current RM100 million foundation into RM400 million of sustainable, high-value capacity,” he said.

As part of the expansion, Yong said YBS will significantly enlarge its manufacturing footprint through expanded facilities in Johor Bahru and Melaka, while establishing new international operations in Vietnam and Bangkok, Thailand.

The regional diversification is expected to secure broader revenue streams, reduce concentration risk and expand the company’s global customer base, he added.

Yong noted that central to this achievement is the partnership with EXIM Bank, whose role as a strategic funding partner has been instrumental in making the project possible.

“Their support reflects the confidence of the financial sector in Penang’s industrial players and underscores the importance of strategic collaboration between industry and banking in driving sustainable, high-impact growth for the Malaysian economy,” he added.

He emphasised that the acquisition is designed for long-term value creation and that YBS remains committed to a disciplined integration process to ensure the expansion is sustainable, inclusive and aligned with the company’s core values of integrity, innovation and resilience.

Meanwhile, Chow said YBS’s expansion beyond Penang underscores the scalability and global competitiveness of Penang-based companies.

“This milestone reflects the strength of Penang’s manufacturing ecosystem in enabling homegrown firms to scale regionally and compete globally, reinforcing investor confidence in the state as a launchpad for internationally competitive enterprises,” he added.

YBS International has an extensive range of manufacturing capabilities, including tool and mould making, metal and plastic fabrication, as well as assembly processes for printed circuit boards, batteries and box builds. Since its listing in 2003, the company has continuously adapted to the dynamic manufacturing sector while actively pursuing growth and innovation opportunities.
