NEW YORK, Jan 25 (Bernama-WAFA) -- UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said that education for Palestinian refugees has faced increasing attacks over the past few years, the Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA) reported.
In a post on X on Saturday, Lazzarini said more than 600,000 children in Gaza have been deprived of formal education for more than two years.
He noted that these children are living through deep trauma amid the rubble, and that returning them to a safe learning environment is a top priority for UNRWA.
He added that currently 65,000 children are in UNRWA's temporary learning spaces in Gaza, in addition to nearly 300,000 other children receiving basic lessons in reading, writing, and arithmetic through digital platforms.
