STATUS OF LCS, SOCIAL MEDIA AGE VERIFICATION AMONG FOCUS OF TODAY'S DEWAN RAKYAT SITTING

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 (Bernama) -- The status of Littoral Combat Ship 1 (LCS 1) KD Maharajalela and the age verification for social media platforms will be among the focus of today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.

Based on the Order Paper published on the Parliament’s official website, Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (PN-Tanah Merah) will ask the Defence Minister during Questions for Oral Answers session about the performance of the sea trial of KD Maharajalela, and whether the vessel will be able to be commissioned on schedule as early as August 2026.

Syerleena Abdul Rashid (PH-Bukit Bendera) will then ask the Communications Minister about the Government's proposal to regulate the age verification process for social media platforms, as it involves providing citizens' personal details to foreign platforms located abroad. 

Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kasim (PN-Arau) meanwhile will ask the Youth and Sports Minister for the reason the reason why Malaysia, up until now, does not have an internationally rated athletics stadium and a dedicated sports university, and the Government's plans to build modern sports facilities to ensure that national athletes will not lag behind on the international stage.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is also expected to provide a briefing on the curernt developments of the Malaysian Armed Forces during the sitting.

The Dewan Rakyat sitting will continue with the debate on the Motion of Thanks for the Royal Address.

The Dewan Rakyat session will take place for 20 days till March 3.
