BERNAMA TV, RADIO PRESENT EXCLUSIVE LINE-UP TO MARK RAMADAN AND CHINESE NEW YEAR

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- As the start of Ramadan coincides with Chinese New Year this year, Bernama TV and Bernama Radio will provide extensive coverage, featuring specially curated programmes and reports that highlight Malaysia’s multicultural society and religious values.

Bernama TV head Nor Hamzeela Md Hambali said that throughout Ramadan, the channel would air a series of programmes and special reports offering educational content and highlighting initiatives aimed at strengthening the community’s economy.

She said that the programmes featured engaging demonstrations and interviews with Raya cookie- and baju Raya-makers, as well as special segments with asatizah (Islamic religious teachers) joining the studio in celebration of the holy month.

“Bernama TV will also highlight the resilience of Muslims working under demanding conditions during the fasting month, through collaborations with several local companies,” she said.

Nor Hamzeela said Bernama TV’s Mandarin News would capture the festive spirit of this year’s Chinese New Year through a special Year of the Horse-themed set from Feb 15, the day before the reunion dinner, until Chap Goh Mei on March 3.

She said that Mandarin News would also air a special Chinese New Year series consisting of eight five-minute episodes from Feb 15 to Feb 22, exploring aspects of history, art, tradition, and community life.

The featured topics in the series include Movable Type Printing on Feb 15, Jurang antara Generasi Tua dan Muda dalam Menyambut Tahun Baharu Cina (Feb 16), Kisah dan Sejarah Perlumbaan Kuda di Malaysia (Feb 17), Tradisi Lagu Tahun Baharu Cina on Feb 18, and Traditional Chinese Almanac Calendar (Feb 19).

Other episodes will highlight Kisah Cina Muslim Malaysia Menyambut Tahun Baharu Cina dalam Bulan Ramadan (Feb 20), Perayaan Tahun Baharu Cina yang Diraikan oleh Pelbagai Kaum di Malaysia (Feb 21) and Keistimewaan Iklan Tahun Baharu Cina (Feb 22).

Meanwhile, Bernama Radio senior news and presentation manager Endok Baleana Bachok, who performs the duties of head of radio, said the station would present a line-up of special Ramadan programmes such as Fiqah Wanita RamadanAnggunJambatan Kasih RamadanFawz Saghir fi RamadanKotak RezekiIbrah Hadis and Reboot Ramadan.

Adding a distinctive touch to the station’s Ramadan offerings this year is the 20-episode drama series Di Sebalik Senyap.

Produced by Amar Yusof and performed by Bernama Radio staff, the drama centres on themes of sacrifice, honesty and family, telling the story of a father who overcomes life’s challenges to ensure meaningful Ramadan and Aidilfitri celebrations for his family.

As part of its Chinese New Year 2026 coverage, Bernama Radio will air a special Chinese New Year 2026 interview programme on Feb 17, Tuah Kuda Api: Siapa Bertindak, Dia Mendahului, with Feng Shui experts providing insights on health, livelihood, career, business and life direction.

On the same day, Bernama Radio’s special Chinese New Year programme will feature celebrity Dr Soo Wincci, who will talk about her family celebrations, festive traditions and taboos, while also sharing her hopes and resolutions for the year ahead.

Bernama Radio will feature a special report on the Chinese community’s traditional culture, highlighting the makan besar tradition and the use of lemons as a symbol of prayer for wealth, luck and prosperity, in an interview with Feng Shui expert Kenneth Leslie Chan.
