PUTRAJAYA, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has left investigations into the flare-burning incident involving a group of Selangor FC supporters in Terengganu last Sunday entirely to the authorities.
Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said firm action would be taken against those found guilty in accordance with the law, adding he is awaiting the outcome of the investigation.
“As long as the matter is under investigation, no one will be spared if an offence is proven. I leave it fully to the authorities to carry out the investigation first,” he told a press conference here today.
The incident occurred at about 6.30pm at the Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge prior to the 2025/26 Super League match between Terengganu FC and Selangor FC at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Kuala Nerus that night.
Following the incident, 33 Selangor FC supporters were remanded to assist investigations into the disturbance.
Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor said they were among some 400 supporters detained and brought to the district police headquarters for urine screening.
