MAS TO ANNOUNCE ANDERSON’S SUCCESSOR IN MARCH

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Aquatics (MAS) is expected to announce the appointment of a new head coach for the national swimming squad by March at the latest.

MAS secretary-general Andy Low said three individuals have expressed interest in filling the vacancy.

“We already have three candidates to fill the national swimming head coach position. Two of them are from overseas.

“We hope the process can be finalised soon and, at the latest, by March. This is because our swimmers have many competitions to take part in this year,” he told Bernama.

Former national swimming head coach Eric Anderson had earlier reached a mutual agreement with MAS not to extend his contract, which ended on Dec 31, 2025.

Anderson’s final assignment was at the Thailand SEA Games, where the national swimming squad won two gold, three silver and five bronze medals.

The tally marked a significant improvement compared with eight medals (one gold, three silver, four bronze) in Phnom Penh 2023 and seven medals (one gold, four silver, two bronze) in Hanoi 2021.
