KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s rise to 54th place in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2025 reflects the firmness of the reform agenda being implemented by the government, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.
He said integrity is not merely a slogan but forms the foundation for investor confidence, high-value economic growth and Malaysia’s pathway towards high-income nation status by 2027-2028.
Saifuddin Nasution said integrated enforcement by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Inland Revenue Board and the Customs Department had also succeeded in recovering RM15.5 billion in national revenue.
“As Minister, I consistently remind enforcement agencies under the Home Ministry to remain committed to strengthening security, combating organised crime, dismantling syndicates and closing avenues for leakages.
“My message remains consistent - every sen of national revenue must be returned to the people,” he said in a Facebook post.
According to the CPI 2025 report released yesterday by Transparency International, Malaysia’s score improved to 52 points last year compared with 50 in 2024, lifting the country’s ranking from 57th to 54th.
Malaysia ranked third among ASEAN countries after Singapore and Brunei, maintaining its relative position in Southeast Asia while outperforming several regional peers.
