LABUAN, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- Rithuan Ismail has been reappointed as chief executive officer (CEO) of Labuan Corporation (LC) effective Feb 16.

He succeeds Mohd Sukuran Taib, who has been transferred to Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Rithuan, 58, was previously serving as special functions officer at the Department of Federal Territories (JWP).

Prior to that appointment, he served as LC chief executive officer from 2022 to 2024.

Meanwhile, LC chairman Husni Mohd Salleh said the corporation must continue its reform agenda, which emphasises the restoration of organisational fundamentals, acceleration of investments, digitalisation and modernisation of service delivery, as well as strengthening management, enhancing governance and institutional integrity, and implementing strategic projects alongside comprehensive urban transformation.

He stressed that organisational stability and unity must remain the cornerstone of the corporation’s progress.

“Individuals may come and go in leading the executive helm, but the spirit of togetherness is a pillar that cannot be compromised. The entire management machinery must set aside any differences and work hand in hand to realise organisational reforms,” he told reporters after the handing over of duties from Sukuran to Rithuan tonight.

Husni outlined clear strategic thrusts to ensure LC remains relevant and competitive.

On economic recovery and growth, he said the corporation would give absolute focus to restoring organisational fundamentals and accelerating strategic investments.

He also expressed confidence that Rithuan’s experience and familiarity with the local authority would enable him to effectively steer the organisation in line with its long-term development aspirations, for the continued well-being and sustainable progress of Labuan as a Federal Territory.
