KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- Traffic on several major highways nationwide was moving slowly as of 9 pm tonight due to accidents and increased vehicle volume.
A spokesperson for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) E2, traffic was slow from Bandar Baru Nilai to Bandar Ainsdale and from Senawang to Pedas Linggi following an accident at KM253.6.
On the E1 southbound stretch, congestion was reported from Changkat Jering to Kuala Kangsar due to an accident at KM232.3. Northbound traffic was slow from Kuala Kangsar to Changkat Jering as well as from Juru to Seberang Jaya.
Traffic was also reported to be slow on the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) from Puchong Utama to Puchong Intan and on the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) between IOI Putrajaya and Persiaran Utara towards Serdang Hospital.
Overall, traffic conditions were lighter than yesterday and are expected to improve after midnight following the end of the government’s 50 per cent toll discount period.
Motorists are advised to remain alert, maintain a safe distance and watch for obstructions, while motorcyclists should exercise extra caution, particularly in areas where Smart Lanes have been activated.
