JAKARTA, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto departed for Washington on Monday for a working visit to the United States (US), where he is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump.
According to the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo and his delegation took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, here.
Accompanying him on the visit were Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
It said the visit is expected to discuss efforts to strengthen Indonesia-US relations and expand strategic cooperation across various sectors.
"The visit is part of Indonesia's active diplomatic efforts to strengthen its national position amid global geopolitical dynamics," it said in a statement on Monday.
On Feb 12, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that the president would also join the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP), scheduled for Feb 19 in Washington.
Airlangga said Prabowo is also expected to sign the Indonesia-US Agreement on Reciprocal Tariffs (ART) with Trump on the sidelines of the meeting.
