MELAKA, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- The limited edition ‘Duit Duyong’ fantasy notes, released in conjunction with Chinese New Year, are more than just souvenirs, serving as a symbol of harmony and unity among the multiracial community in the Duyong state constituency.
Duyong assemblyman Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem said that 2,000 limited edition collectible notes were produced to mark the Year of the Horse, with serial numbers starting from YB8888001.
He said the initiative is also a continuation of efforts launched in 2024 to recognise and celebrate the communities observing the festival in his constituency.
“In 2024, we introduced souvenirs such as gold coins, while last year we distributed Chinese New Year calligraphy greeting cards,” he told Bernama today.
He added that the special serial number ‘YB8888888’ was auctioned on Facebook for RM4,000, with the proceeds set to benefit Rumah Villa Harapan.
