KOTA KINABALU,Feb 22 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims in Sabah dropped to 3,266 people from 1,401 families this afternoon, compared with 5,141 people from 2,160 families at 8 am today.
The Sabah State Disaster Management Secretariat said in a statement that all the victims from the districts of Pitas, Paitan and Tawau have been placed at 24 temporary relief centres.
Pitas has recorded the highest number of evacuees with 2,171 people, followed by Paitan (850) and Tawau (245).
Floods in the three districts affected 60 villages, but no fatalities have been reported so far.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecast thunderstorms for several areas in Sabah's interior this evening.
