MAIPS ALLOCATES RM6.05 MILLION FOR FITRAH AID TO ASSIST 12,112 ASNAF

KANGAR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) has allocated RM6,056,000 for this year’s Fitrah Aid to ease the burden of asnaf (tithe recipients), specifically the poor and needy, in their preparations for Ramadan and the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.

In a statement today, MAIPs announced that a total of 12,112 individuals from these groups are set to receive the assistance in stages.

The symbolic launch of the aid was officiated by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also the President of MAIPs, during an Iftar Jamaie (communal breaking of fast) ceremony involving Council and Committee Members under MAIPs in Kuala Lumpur last night.

Through the statement, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin decreed that every MAIPs committee play a complementary role in strengthening and improving the Islamic governance ecosystem in Perlis to reach a more excellent and competitive level.

Tuanku Syed also emphasised efforts to empower zakat (tithe) and waqf (endowment) management for greater impact, expand sustainable education and training for the asnaf, and modernise service delivery through digitalisation, which will directly impact the improvement of the asnaf group's standard of living.

"These initiatives are believed to be capable of accelerating efforts toward the total eradication of poverty in the state of Perlis within a shorter timeframe.

“The strengthening of Islamic educational and welfare institutions proves MAIPs' determination to continue moving in line with contemporary demands without neglecting Shariah principles and traditional values, which are the core strength of Islamic institutions in this state,” said the Raja Muda of Perlis.

During the event, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also graced the session to present Letters of Appointment to the MAIPs Committee Members for the 2026-2027 term.
