KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- The bravery of enforcement teams, including the Border Protection and Control Agency (AKPS), deserves high praise as they face constant threats to themselves and their families while performing their duties.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said that enforcement officers are willing to risk their personal safety to combat crime for the sake of national security. At the same time, he urged Malaysians to continue providing solid support to all enforcement agencies carrying out their trust and responsibilities.
“I express my deepest gratitude to the AKPS Bukit Kayu Hitam commander for being firm in his actions,” he told the media during a walkabout at the Pantai Dalam Ramadan Bazaar here today.
Fahmi, who is also the spokesperson for the MADANI Government, was commenting on the incident involving AKPS Bukit Kayu Hitam Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir, who was shot at yesterday.
Yesterday, Mohd Nasaruddin escaped injury after the Proton X70 vehicle he was traveling in was struck by bullets fired by two unidentified suspects on a motorcycle.
In the Dewan Rakyat today, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that the suspects who opened fire at Mohd Nasaruddin’s vehicle were successfully detained in less than 24 hours, and the interrogation process is currently underway.
