KUALA NERUS, March 1 (Bernama) -- The disbursement of the 2026/2027 Alumni Scholarship by Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) has provided a lifeline for 10 postgraduate students from the B40 group to pursue their higher education.
One of the recipients, Zaatil Ulya Alazmi, 24, from Gaal, Kelantan, said she felt fortunate to be selected to pursue a Master’s degree in phonetics at the UniSZA Faculty of Languages and Communication.
The Bachelor of Arabic Language Studies (Honours) graduate said the scholarship serves as a stepping stone towards her ambition to become a lecturer.
"After completing my undergraduate studies in July 2025, I worked as a relief teacher at Maahad Saniah in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, to save money and assist my parents in supporting my eight siblings who are still in university and school.
"Alhamdulillah, my application for the Alumni Scholarship was successful, and I am able to continue my studies in the field that I am keen on. Insya-Allah, I will make the most of this opportunity to achieve my dreams and improve my family's welfare," she told reporters at the UniSZA 2026 Alumni Scholarship presentation ceremony at the Chancellery Building here today.
The ceremony was officiated by UniSZA vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Fadzli Adam.
Meanwhile, Fadzli said UniSZA has allocated RM200,000 to sponsor this first cohort of the 2026/2027 Alumni Scholarship recipients.
