PUTRAJAYA, March 4 (Bernama) -- The safety and welfare of all Malaysians currently in the Middle East, which is in turmoil following Iran's war with Israel and the United States (US), is the government's priority, said MADANI Government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi, who is also the Communications Minister, said the Foreign Ministry will, from time to time, issue statements on actions to be taken in response to developments in Iran.
He added that Wisma Putra notified the Cabinet of this today, including the latest information and feedback regarding Malaysians in the Middle East.
"The government's priority now is to ensure that the safety of Malaysians is assured at all times, be it those who are stranded due to the unavailability of flights to return home or those residing in the countries affected by what is happening in Iran following the attack by the Zionist Israeli regime,” he said.
He said this at the post-Cabinet Meeting press conference here today.
In the early hours of Feb 28, Israel and the US launched joint air strikes on targets in Iran.
Tehran then responded by targeting US military bases and logistics facilities in several Arab nations, resulting in widespread airspace restrictions in the region.
