ISKANDAR PUTERI, March 5 (Bernama) -- Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) head coach Xisco Munoz wants his players to maintain their momentum and play with high intensity in the return leg of the 2025/2026 Asian Champions League Elite (ACLE) Round of 16 against Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
He said the match at Edion Peace Wing Stadium, Hiroshima, on March 11 is crucial to ensure his team progresses to the quarter-finals.
“We are facing a big opponent and it’s important for the players to rest and try to recover for the next game,” he said at a post-match press conference last night.
Xisco also praised his players for delivering a top-level performance as they defeated Sanfrecce 3-1 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
“This victory is big... not only for the club but also for the country, because it’s important to deliver a top-level performance. But we need to continue the momentum,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sanfrecce head coach Bartosch Paul Gauli is confident his team can bounce back in the return leg.
Acknowledging the intensity and quality of the opponents, he said his side knew what to expect but was confident of delivering a better performance on home ground.
"I’m proud of the team and I’m happy that we scored one goal, because I think this can give us hope for the next match,” he said.
