GEORGE TOWN, March 7 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today visited PAS Spiritual Leader Datuk Hashim Jasin, who is currently undergoing treatment at the Penang Hospital.
Anwar, who is on a one-day working visit to Penang and Kedah, said that Hashim, an old friend of his, is in good condition and that they even had the opportunity to speak at length.
"I also conveyed greetings from my wife (Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail) to Hashim and his family, while also praying for the continued well-being and speedy recovery of Uztaz Hashim,” he said in a Facebook post.
Hashim, 87, was transferred from Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF) in Perlis to the Penang Hospital on Feb 18 to undergo a stenting procedure.
While there, Anwar also visited a Ministry of Health (MOH) nurse who had been involved in a road accident while on her way to work at the hospital.
He said the sacrifices of healthcare workers are greatly appreciated because of their significant contributions in caring for and serving the community.
Before leaving, Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, received an update on the hospital's upgrading project to ensure efforts to improve healthcare services continue to run smoothly for the benefit of the people.
The Prime Minister later attended the opening of the Mengkuang Titi Mosque and Nuzul Quran 1447H celebration in Permatang Pauh, near here.
