MELAKA, March 9 (Bernama) -- Melaka has recorded its highest investment in 22 years, registering RM14.68 billion in approved investments involving 312 projects throughout 2025.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the achievement was based on data released by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), reflecting investors’ confidence in the stability of the state administration and its economic development direction.

“The stability of the state government’s administration is a key factor that convinces investors to continue maintaining and expanding their operations in the state.

“There are several conglomerate companies operating in Melaka that have been established for nearly 52 years, demonstrating that the state has a conducive investment ecosystem, including in terms of workforce,” he told reporters here today.

Earlier, he officiated the Melaka State Government Administration Assembly and the Ihya Ramadan celebration for Melaka civil servants at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh.

Ab Rauf said the state government is also focusing on the development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to ensure a workforce supply that meets the needs of industry and investors.

“The initiative enables investors to obtain skilled workers who meet industry requirements, thereby supporting sustainable economic growth in the state.

“I hope all these approved projects will create and generate employment opportunities for 4,000 people, particularly Melaka residents,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ab Rauf said the state government has agreed to provide free parking for seven days across all local authority (PBT) administrative areas in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.

He said the initiative involves 39,696 parking bays with a financial implication of RM901,297.
