ANKARA, March 10 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- A new national poll in the United States reveals that more than half of Americans oppose the current military action against Iran, with 62 per cent believing that President Donald Trump's administration has not provided a clear explanation for the attack, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
A new Quinnipiac University nationwide poll finds that 53 per cent oppose the ongoing strikes and 40 per cent support them.
Democrats are overwhelmingly opposed (89 per cent), while Republicans support (85 per cent) the US military action against Iran.
According to the poll, 74 per cent oppose sending US ground troops into Iran, while only 20 per cent support the idea.
Most voters expect the conflict to last months or longer, rather than ending quickly.
Trump's foreign policy received 40 per cent approval and 57 per cent disapproval. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has 40 per cent approval and 47 per cent disapproval for his handling of the job. Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth got 37 per cent approval and 52 per cent disapproval.
However, voters are split on the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the first day of the joint Israeli-US attack on Tehran, with 48 per cent believing it was justified and 43 per cent disagreeing.
The poll was conducted from March 6 to 8 among 1,002 self-identified registered voters.
