PUTRAJAYA, March 11 (Bernama) -- Firm action must be taken immediately by the authorities, including the Attorney General, over issues related to the 3R (religion, race and royalty), Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said.
He said the matter was decided at today’s Cabinet meeting after several issues related to 3R, as reported by the media and on social media, were raised during the meeting.
“Firm action must now be taken by the relevant authorities, including the Attorney General. At the same time, if there are any gaps in the law, then they should be reviewed,” he told a press conference after the Cabinet meeting here today.
According to Fahmi, the measures include amending existing laws or drafting new legislation so that issues related to the 3R can be addressed more comprehensively in the future.
Several Cabinet members were reported yesterday as saying they would raise issues of religious and racial provocation at today’s Cabinet meeting.
They included Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan and Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
