KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (Bernama) -- Three individuals, including a seven-month-old baby boy, were killed in a two-vehicle collision at the junction of Jalan Bunga Kertas, Bukit Sentosa in Hulu Selangor today.
Hulu Selangor police chief Supt Ibrahim Husin said preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred at about 9 am when a car turned right at the junction and failed to avoid a motorcycle heading from Taman Widuri towards Sungai Choh, resulting in the motorcycle grazing the left side of the car.
"As a result of the accident, the 25-year-old motorcyclist, a salesman, and the car's 88-year-old woman passenger were confirmed dead at the scene,” he said in a statement today.
He said the baby boy, who was being held by a passenger in the rear seat of the car, suffered severe injuries and was taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital, where he died at about 11 am while receiving treatment.
Ibrahim said the male car driver and the front-seat woman passenger, both aged 60, sustained only minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital.
Investigations are ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and those with information on the accident are urged to contact the Traffic Investigation Officer, Insp Mohammadi Mt Abu @ Ramli at 03-6064 1222 or the nearest police station.
