KUALA LUMPUR March 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysians must reject all forms of racial provocation and not be easily influenced by racially charged slander or religious extremism deliberately propagated by irresponsible parties, said Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
In a Facebook post tonight, he said the MADANI Government remained committed to preserving the unity and harmony of the community and would not compromise with anyone attempting to disrupt public order through slander, incitement, or racist remarks.
“We must not be influenced by or respond to provocations from extremist groups with hidden agendas. Let the authorities carry out investigations and act in accordance with the law,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the Housing and Local Government Minister’s Ramadan Iftar Ceremony with media friends at Kaw Kaw Malaya restaurant, Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad here.
Also present were Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, Star Media Group chief content officer Datin Paduka Esther Ng Sek Yee, Sinar Harian Group editor-in-chief Zamri Rambli and the acting Astro AWANI editor-in-chief Zaiful Mohd Ariffin.
Meanwhile, Nga highlighted the crucial role of the media in providing accurate and responsible information to the public.
“Tonight’s Iftar ceremony serves not only as a platform to strengthen ties between the ministry and media practitioners, but also as a reminder of our shared responsibility to uphold the harmony, unity, and peace of the nation,” he said.
Nga also urged all Malaysians to stand united under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in confronting the economic and political challenges arising from the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
“The country needs stability and peace to overcome the challenges posed by the West Asia crisis, and now is the time to uphold the spirit of unity for the nation’s future,” he said.
