SEREMBAN, March 18 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan police expect about 800,000 vehicles to enter the state during the Aidilfitri holidays, a 74 per cent increase compared to 460,000 on normal days.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said a total of 40 officers and 242 personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) will be on duty under Op Selamat for six days beginning tomorrow.

He said Op Lancar will also be implemented from today until Friday, as well as from March 27 to 29 in all districts to ensure smooth traffic flow.

“Among the routes expected to experience congestion is the Seremban–Kuala Pilah road, particularly near the smoked duck stalls. Congestion or slow-moving traffic in this area is unavoidable,” he told reporters here today.

He also reminded the public not to park their vehicles in a manner that obstructs main roads when stopping at the stalls.

In addition, 12 congestion ‘hotspots’ have been identified across the state.

Meanwhile, the public is encouraged to use the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application or fill in the balik kampung form at the nearest police station to enable patrols at unattended homes.

To date, 60,589 users have registered for VSP, but only 19 balik kampung form applications have been submitted through the application.
