KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 (Bernama) -- Muslims in Malaysia should continue to embrace the true values of Aidilfitri - moderation, gratitude, compassion, and care for those in need, said Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.
The national unity advocate said in these challenging times, the people should celebrate Aidilfitri with simplicity and avoid excess, in line with the spirit of Ramadan, which teaches sacrifice, discipline, and empathy.
"This year’s Aidilfitri is observed in a spirit of reflection, as the world continues to grapple with ongoing conflict in the Middle East (West Asia), alongside many global challenges that are affecting lives everywhere.
"Here at home, Malaysians are also facing rising living costs and economic uncertainties that demand resilience, prudence, and unity," he said in a statement today in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.
Lee also called on all Malaysians to strengthen the bonds of unity and solidarity, extending a helping hand to one another regardless of background.
As many families navigate financial pressures, he said, it is important to practise prudent spending and responsible financial management for the well-being of both households and the wider community.
"May this Aidilfitri serve as a renewed beginning for all of us to reaffirm our shared values, strengthen our humanity, and work together towards building a more caring, united, and resilient society," he said.
