KUALA KRAI, March 23, (Bernama) -- Traffic is building up on several federal roads in Kelantan today as outstation travellers begin returning home after the Aidilfitri holidays.
A check by Bernama along key routes, including Jalan Pasir Puteh–Kuala Terengganu and Jalan Machang–Kuala Krai–Gua Musang, found traffic moving slowly due to an increase in vehicles as of 1.30pm.
Road user Rosmaliza Adnan, 43, said she left Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu at about 10am, heading to Kuala Lumpur.
“I had to stop for a short rest at a petrol station near Kuala Krai as I felt tired from the long journey.
“I usually return a day or two earlier after the festive break so I can rest upon reaching home and avoid long traffic jams,” she told Bernama when met here today.
Meanwhile, Gua Musang police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said personnel have been deployed to carry out regular patrols and monitoring along the Kuala Krai–Gua Musang and Gua Musang–Kuala Lipis routes, following the expected increase in traffic.
“Early preparations and planning have been carried out, especially along main exit routes from Kelantan.
“Traffic control measures will be implemented based on current conditions to ensure smoother journeys,” he said.
He also advised road users to follow instructions from staff on duty and prioritise safety.
“Travellers are encouraged to plan their journeys to avoid worsening congestion,” he added.
