SHAH ALAM, March 31 (Bernama) -- Koerber Technologies Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Germany-based technology group Korber, is investing RM95 million to expand its manufacturing facility here.
The company said in a statement today that the investment is part of efforts to strengthen its operations in Asia.
The investment would enable the group to double its manufacturing capacity to enhance service capabilities for regional and global markets, with Koerber Technologies specialising in end-to-end production of high-tech machinery for the food and beverage industry.
“The expansion will provide the capacity to progressively accommodate over 200 additional commercial and technical high-skilled positions, supporting the transformation of the Malaysian operations and strengthening Malaysia’s role as a high-tech engineering powerhouse within Korber’s global production network,” it said.
The new 12,000-square-metre facility, located in the Hicom Industrial corridor, is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2026, with operations set to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
The expansion comes amid rising demand for localised high-tech manufacturing and automated solutions across the Asia-Pacific region, allowing the facility to better support time-sensitive and high-precision supply chains.
To mark the milestone, a groundbreaking ceremony was held today, attended by Petaling Jaya Member of Parliament Lee Chean Chung, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy Ulrike Wolf and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Selangor director Sherulanuar Abd Karim.
Upon completion, the facility will scale up existing precision machine production and expand local research and development (R&D) activities.
Currently, Koerber Technologies employs about 300 highly skilled staff in Shah Alam, with approximately 95 per cent comprising Malaysians.
The new facility is expected to further grow its workforce with more than 200 additional high-skilled positions over time.
