KOTA BHARU, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan state government has presented incentives worth RM251,000 to 37 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) medal-winning athletes and their coaches.
State Youth, Sports, Non-governmental organisation (NGO) and Community Unity Committee chairman Zamakhshari Muhamad said the incentives were based on the categories, including individual and team events.
"In 2024 SUKMA, Kelantan won seven gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze medals, so for individual events, gold medallists are given RM2,500, silver medallists, RM2,000 and bronze RM1,500, while team events with three to six players received RM3,000 for gold, RM2,500 for silver and RM2,000 for bronze.
"For team events with seven to 10 players, RM4,500 is given for a gold medal, RM3,500 for silver and RM2,500 for bronze,” he told reporters after attending the incentive presentation ceremony today, which was also attended by Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nasuruddin Daud.
On Kelantan’s preparation as 2028 SUKMA host, Zamakhshari said ground-breaking and construction have begun at the location, even though there have been slight delays initially.
Kelantan finished 14th out of 15th contingents at the 21st SUKMA in Sarawak, which was won by hosts Sarawak with 76 gold, 55 silver and 70 bronze.
