KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 (Bernama) – The Malaysian Football League (MFL) announced today that its club licensing unit will be assigned to assist Kuala Lumpur City (KL City) FC in submitting an actual appeal to the First Instance Body (FIB) for review.
In a statement, MFL clarified that KL City FC on Aug 12 had sent a letter following the penalty decision of a 6-point deduction, dated Aug 5.
However, MFL said that the letter titled “Notice of Intention to Appeal FIB Decision,” was not an official appeal but only notification of their intention to make an appeal, along with their intention to present detailed plans and proposals after their election of the new President of the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA).
According to the statement, MFL then received a new letter yesterday, dated Oct 23, titled “Appeal Against FIB Decision on Kuala Lumpur City FC,” which confirmed KL City FC’s commitment to proceed with the appeal.
“For the purpose of clarity, a ground of appeal is usually accompanied by supporting documents from respective agencies as evidence, to prove plans moving forward and explain why the initial decision is either misguided, erroneous or heavy handed. And why an appeal is justified,” the statement read.
The six-point deduction was imposed on KL City FC by the FIB due to inaccurate arrears declarations during the licensing process.
On Oct 12, Syed Yazid Syed Omar was elected KLFA president during the association’s 35th Congress for the 2024-2028 term.
