JDT TO INVEST ON BEEFING SQUAD - TUNKU ISMAIL

12/03/2025 10:18 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (Bernama) -- Johor Darul Ta'zim team is ready to continue investing to strengthen the Southern Tigers after losing 0-1 to Buriram United in the 2024/25 Asian Champions League Elite (ACLE) last night.

JDT owner, the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said his team had already identified several weaknesses and has plans to boost the squad in the next few months.

"It has always been an honour and privilege for JDT to play in the Asian elite tournament. I am proud the club had fought hard to reach a higher level.

However, we were unlucky to be eliminated this way in last night's match, as well as including several results," he said in a post on X early this morning.

Tunku Ismail also said he wanted to take full responsibility for JDT's defeat last night, besides being determined to put Johor on the football map and compete with the best teams in Asia.

JDT's defeat at the hands of Thailand's Buriram United at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium last night also saw the Southern Tigers squad failing to advance to the quarter-finals of the 2024/25 ACLE.

The result, however, repeated the Southern Tigers squad's achievements in the 2022 ACLE competition.
