KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 (Bernama) -- National women’s singles shuttler K. Letshanaa remains focused and undeterred by the departure of her former coach, Jeffer Rosobin, who parted ways with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) last month.
Letshanaa said she is moving forward with her training under national singles head coach Kenneth Jonassen and women’s singles coach Misbun Ramdan Misbun.
“Even though Jonassen is currently at the All England 2025, we are following his training programmes, and his guidance is always present. We are also adapting well to coach (Misbun) Ramdan too.
“So, Jeffer’s absence hasn’t been a disruption. We are staying on course with the same mindset and spirit,” she said when met at a training session yesterday.
In a statement, BAM said Jeffer had made the difficult decision to step down from his role due to family commitments.
For the record, the Indonesian joined BAM in October 2023 as the Head of Juniors before being reassigned to the senior women’s singles department in October last year.
During Jeffer’s tenure as Head of Juniors, Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing secured gold in the boys' doubles at the World Junior Championships in October, while Dania Sofea and Low Zi Yu clinched silver in the girls' doubles.
Meanwhile, Letshanaa stressed that Malaysia must not underestimate the competition at the upcoming 2025 Sudirman Cup, despite receiving a favourable group-stage draw. The tournament is set to take place in Xiamen, China, from April 27 to May 4.
Fifth-seeded Malaysia were placed in Group C alongside Japan, France and Australia.
“Of course, Japan is the top team in our group, but we cannot take things lightly against France or Australia. We need to stay fully focused,” she said.
Currently ranked world number 55, Letshanaa added that she aims to give her best performance, regardless of the outcome, at her next assignment - the 2025 Badminton Asia Championships in Ningbo, China, from April 8 to 13.
