KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 (Bernama) – Malaysia began their Group B campaign in the 2025 Sepak Takraw World Cup quadrant event on a strong note after defeating France 2-0 in Bihar, India, today.

The national squad, comprising Muhammad Shahalril Aiman Halim, Amirul Zazwan Amir, Norfaizzul Abd Razak, and Muhammad Fetri Mohd Azwadi, had little difficulty securing the first set with a 15-6 victory in the match held at the Patliputra Indoor Stadium.

In the second set, Malaysia made two substitutions, bringing in Aidil Aiman Azwawi and Muhammad Noraizat Mohd Nordin, before overpowering the French duo 15-7.

The national team are scheduled to play their second Group B match against Myanmar later this evening.

The Sepak Takraw Association of Malaysia (PSM) had set a realistic target for the quadrant event—reaching the final.

The national squad continued their winning streak by defeating Myanmar 2-1 in their second Group B match.

In the first set, Malaysia, fielding the same lineup of Muhammad Shahalril, Amirul Zazwan, Norfaizzul Abd, and Muhammad Fetri, fell 15-10 to their opponents. However, they bounced back to claim a hard-fought 17-14 victory in the second set.

Riding on their momentum, Malaysia sealed the match by overcoming Myanmar 15-12 in the third set, securing their second win of the day.

Malaysia are set to face Vietnam in their final Group B match tomorrow.
