KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 (Bernama) -- The new season of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia, which kicks off April 19, will see the playoffs to be split across two phases.
The playoffs of season 15, which is set to take place across two weekends will see phase one running on May 30 and 31 while phase two will be held on June 14 and 15.
Head of e-sports (MY and SEA Incubation) of MOONTON Games Siew Hao Zhen said they revised the playoffs format as an experiment to further improve fan experience.
“In previous seasons, the playoffs would take place from Thursday to Sunday; this has led to some fans not being able to attend the weekday matches due to commitments such as school and work.
“Now we will do on both weekends, Saturday and Sunday. We believe the new format aligns more closely to our league's brand of being an inclusive and family-friendly community,” he said when met at the Infinix Iftar Night 2025: Powering the Future with MPL Malaysia, here, last night.
Season 15 will return with the same two-staged format comprising the regular season followed by the playoffs at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara, here.
The regular season will feature 10 of the nation's top MLBB teams who will compete every week from April 19 to May 25. The top six teams from the regular season will advance to the playoffs.
The match opener on April 19 will be a rematch of last season’s grand finalists, SRG versus Team Vamos.
Meanwhile, Hao Zhen said they are delighted to welcome Infinix, an emerging technology brand to be the official gaming smartphone partner for the MPL Malaysia.
Infinix Malaysia marketing director Wai Kiat Hong said their partnership with MOONTON Games is a huge step to shape the future of e-sports in Malaysia, bringing innovation to mobile gaming and ensuring that e-sports community to have the access to the best gaming technology.
